Emplast
Munkadur tanks were exported from Germany from 1949, and due to the growing demand, a South African subsidiary Emaillit Works (Pty) Ltd was established in 1952. Today Munkadur is manufactured and applied by the sole South African licensee Emplast (Pty) Ltd.
Over the past 3 decades Munkadur has been widely applied to tanks in the Beer, Wine, Fruit Juice, and Chemical Industries in South Africa.
Munkadur® was developed in 1963 as successor to the hot-cured Emaillit® lining. As a solvent-free 2-component epoxy system, Munkadur® cures at room temperature and thus enables linings to be applied on site at the customer’s premises. Since then, more than 10,000 beer, champagne and wine tanks have been lined with Munkadur® worldwide. This corresponds to a total coated area of more than 1,000,000 m².
Munkadur® coatings are applied worldwide by their own specialist personnel or specially trained licensees. Emplast is one such licensee.
